Managing Cycles of Time – 1971-2011

The year was 1971, and the USA was progressing through a movement of young people realizing that there were too many rules restricting them. This was the beginning of an era where there was a need for freedom and less rules. Unfortunately the need for freedom manifested itself in many unhealthy fashions called free sex, increase usage in drugs, plane hijacks, etc.

Some interesting aspects of 1971 that show the tensions and desire for freedom include:

·        36 people hospitalized during Grateful Dead concert; after drinking LSD apple juice

·        Nixon administration arrests 13,000 anti-war protesters in 3 days on this day in history

·        Prison riot at Attica Prison in New York, resulting in the death of 10 hostages and 29 inmates.

·        Charles Manson and three of his followers receive the death penalty

·        "All in the Family" premieres on CBS featuring the angst between Archie and “Meathead’.

·        Jim Morrison of The Doors found dead in bath tub in Paris (supposed Heroin overdose)

• The New York Times begins to publish sections of the Pentagon Papers showing the US Government had been lying to the American People.

·        National Guard mobilized to quell rioting in Wilmington, NC

·        John Lennon releases the "Imagine" album

·        The right to Vote in the USA was lowered to 18 years of age

As part of the freedom movement in 1971 the Five Man Electrical Band wrote a song called ‘Sign, Sign, Everywhere a Sign,’ This song was a smashing hit. The song is actually a clean song representing the feelings of people of that day. All they could see were signs telling their generation what they could, or could not do. This sense or desire for freedom during 1971 imploded on many people who got mixed up in unhealthy practices as a means of identifying with the need to feel free from all the signs, rules, and issues that appeared to be everywhere. The desire and need for freedom created more questions than answers, and more problems than it solved. The same cycle of seeking freedom exists 40-years later, in 2011. Below is a simple comparison of the false sense of freedom or liberty people seek during the comparative years of 1971 and 2011.

This spiritual bulletin is intended to connect the 40-year span between 1971 and 2011 by showing a 40 year cycle of time and how it occurs without anyone really noticing it.

Explanation on Cycles of Time

As humans we are trained to operate off of two cycles of time 1)The 24-hour day, and 2) The 7-day calendar week.  This is why we say things like ‘Today feels like a Saturday instead of a Sunday,’ and/or ‘Wow it’s only 2:00 PM, it feels more like it is 7:00 PM.’ The modern day ‘linear behavior of producing things in 24-hrs and 7-day weeks often locks us into a sub-conscious pattern of recognizing smaller scales or cycles of time.  As an example; I will ask people who have depression the question: “Does your depression seem to come in 3-month cycles?” Most people reply and say; “Wow that is amazing, how did you know that?” The truth is the 3-month cycle of time is very significant for people’s behavior and unfortunately most people can’t identify it, as they have been trained on 24-hr and 7- day cycles of time.   As you ponder this, think about the number of issues in churches, businesses, and families take place in three month increments, or cycles of time. For instance, many people can rally around excitement for about three months, and by the end of the third month the excitement and enthusiasm is lost. This is why families, churches, and business are up and down so frequently. It doesn’t mean they have to be up and down, but more than likely they will perform in these patterns of behavior, if they are not paying attention to the sign of the times, season changes and lunar cycles.

Think through the number of times you have made statements about fashions or trends. Many of us make statements like ‘I guess that style or color has come back around again.’ Or ‘If you wait long enough the clothes you’re wearing will come back in style.’  These statements are made in a joking way without much thought as to why they will come back around again. The truth may be that they come back around because the way people behave or think in ‘cycles of time’ are not obvious to most people. The reason they are not obvious is most of us are locked into the 24hr and 7-day cycles of time.  There are many cycles of time created by repeated patterns that are not easily identifiable; therefore you do not easily see the cycles or repeatable patterns of behavior around longer cycles of time. 

Cycles of time show us that ’time‘ is non-linear

The key to start grasping cycles of time is to realize that time is non-linear, and does not operate like we generally believe it does; we only treat time around our clock, calendar, and a life-time. We treat time as if it starts one day and stops eventually on the scale called our lifetime. We break it into minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, generations, and a lifetime; but live of the 24-hr clock and 7-day week. 

The truth is that the element called ‘time’ is not linear and actually revolves around our experiences, circumstances, feelings, relationships, and light. These components are called our personal ‘space’ in ‘time.’ This is why some days, years, or decades feel like they lasted forever, or possibly flew by.  It is also why we have Déjà vu at times; which literally means ‘already seen.’

Example of the non-linear aspect of time

Our daughter Jessica just graduated college and I asked her the question … ‘How long did you feel college lasted.’ Her response was interesting in that she said ‘On one hand it felt like it lasted just a few weeks, but, on the other hand it felt like it lasted 20 years.’  I am sure we all have experienced lapses of times where we feel the same way. I quizzed her and stated; “I bet the part of you that feels like it lasted only a few short weeks is when you think about all the great relationships and experiences, and the part of you that feels it lasted 20-years was when you think about the long hours of study, the number of tests, and some bad experiences.”   Jessica,stated – yea you are right!   I explained to her that time is not linear, but non-linear based on her thoughts and behaviors during the four-years.  I told her that time is proportionate to how we perceive things in our space and time. I stated that time speeds up for people who are passionate, excited, thankful, and working out good will and deeds for people; whereas time slows down for people who are disgruntled, bitter, resentful, in the wrong place, unhappy, or in bad relationships.  

God allows people to do more things, produce more good will, and see greater visions when they are in the best relationship of all … with Him. The reason is simple, and can be explained by reminding you that God is light. When I am connected in good relationship to God, I am moving in non-linear time and more at ‘God-speed’.   The summary is, the closer I am to the source of light the faster time moves for me. This requires me to rethink my bad thoughts, relationships, and distance from the source of light.

Being reminded that God (light) travels at 186,000 miles per second, I realized that no 24-hour clock or calendar week can track His movement. His cycles of time may be based off of generations, and life times known to mankind. No wonder one day to the Lord is as a 1,000 years to man.  It is my desire to get on God’s speed.  

This simple example explains why some people with passion, synergy and excitement for God can by faith move things forward that other people cannot. They are moving at God-speed because their time-table is directly proportionate to their passion toward God.  As their time speeds up, the more they get to see, and the more they experience; and the more they see and experience, the broader their vision for new things becomes.

Think about time this way…. Looking forward you can plan a wedding day down to the smallest detail and calculate every minute of the day. In fact you linger on the specifics and carefully calculate to make sure that everything works out.  However, 10-years after the wedding, you generally only look back on the memories and not the minute-by-minute details.  Time looking forward is easy to plan around the clock cycle we are used to; but time looking back is generally seen in memories or experience. The reason is simply that time is not linear when viewing the past.  This is part of the reason God wants people to place ‘past’ memorials along life’s pathway. He desires people to realize that He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. In fact God travels your past and future before you were ever born; because light is able to reach its end before it ever began. This concept should want you to seek some more light! This may be the very kind of light that Elijah, Enoch, Daniel, Phillip, and John saw and were connected too when they were translated to different locations into the future. In some cases their time and space changed together, and in other cases only their time changed. They were traveling in God-speed to their destiny; whether momentarily or permanently.

A 40 year cycle of time in space has recycled – but it looks different

Light combined with the non-linear aspects of time, may shed some light into some of the recent day events that are happening.  Step back into 1971 (40-years ago) and think through the events that have occurred in that space during that time. Now examine the current day (40-days hence) and see that some of the same strong desires for freedom are again stirring the world.  The recent events in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, and Greece illustrate that there is an implosion of the modern day structures which have held people in bondage; at least in their minds. These kingdoms are starting to fall (implode). In other worlds there is a worldwide statement that people will no longer tolerate hyper-control by anyone.  It is a repeat of 1971 when the Five Man Electrical Band and many other movements were trying to set their minds free from the captivity that they felt by society. The difference now is that it has become a world-wide space in time.

I have recently witnessed major shifts in churches, denominations, and business that took 40-years to take place. The 40-year cycle of time appears to have returned. The opportunity that presented itself 40-years has returned in many of these cases. This will take some serious consideration by each reader as they open their eyes and ‘let’ the light of God bring back the 40-year cycle of reality that is repeating itself. Unfortunately it is a day just like the 1970s when people wanted freedom, but did not have a ‘clean’ or ‘educated’ manner to manifest their sense and desire for freedom. Many people around the country have reconnected with friends of old and left their spouses, families, identity, and belongings to re-live their past.  This same behavior or feeling explains why many of the musical bands or performers are re-united and reconnected to replay their same 70s style music. 

There is nothing necessarily wrong with the music, relationships, or technology that allows people to reconnect.  It is not the tools that are evil, rather the uneducated manner in which people manifest this re-found space in time.  When the space and time replays itself, what are we to do with the reconnected feelings towards freedom? America has recreated modern day freedom movements through many sensationalism type shows, in an effort to strut our freedom of ‘letting it all hang out, again.’

Unfortunately this misunderstood space in time has created the exposure and manifestation of the Anthony Wiener’s, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s, Bernie Madoff’s’, etc.  40-years later we are seeing people trip over their flesh as they do not understand the power of the light that has come. The 40 year cycle has blinded them to the truest sense of freedom. On the other hand people who are educated and full of spiritual life, start flowing in the current space in time. They are beginning to move in speed that has been unprecedented in previous 40-year cycles of time.  The Biblical example is that Moses life was broken into three separate 40-yearcycles. It was Moses choice to see the cycle and accept the new challenges in the next 40-year cycle that occurred.

• Moses led Israel from Egypt at age 80 (2 times 40), and after 40 years in the wilderness, died at 120 (3 times 40; Deuteronomy 34:7).

Biblical evidence of the 40-year cycles

This same 40-year cycle happened to the Israelites when they left Egypt. Initially they got excited about escaping and obtaining freedom, and learned to manifest it in a healthy way during their space in time. Unfortunately, their 40-year journey in the wilderness was created by eventually mismanaging their freedom. They unfortunately developed their own fleshly parades of American Idol, and Desperate House Wives. They collectively decided to put flesh on parade, which gave them a false sense of freedom. This false sense of freedom actually reconnected to their past lives and Egypt, causing them to beg to go back into bondage (Egypt).  It was unfortunate, however they prove the theory that time is non-linear and proportionate toward attitudes, and closeness to God. Eventually the 40-year cycle returned for the Israelites, but only Joshua, Caleb, Rahab and her family, were allowed to reach their destiny.  The reason was simply that they saw and were connected to the light that was with them all along!

There are many 40-year cycles in the Old Testament shadows revealed in the relationship between "forty," and the fulfillment of promises.  Many Bible Scholars believe that 40-years is a time of probation and testing, which is usually followed by a time of blessing for the obedient people who were tried and true coming out of the 40-year cycle.

Summary of the 40-year cycle of space in time

This writer does not proclaim to be an expert on time. Rather a believer who has been watching the signs, and opening a spiritual ear to what God is speaking.  The signs are clearer than ever before and we have nature (creation) itself imploding and exploding to show forth God’s signs that are more intense than ever before (Romans 1:19-20).  God knew that this day was coming and that we all have choices to manifest the opportunity and need for freedom. The truth is there is only one true path to freedom.

During the last 40-years the world has discovered a new term called synchronicity; whereby each person around the world is only six connections from knowing everyone (six-degrees of Separation).  God has created a better system called one-degree of separation; whereby through one person we are connected to everyone throughout history … and His name is Jesus.  “There is no other name under heaven given among men whereby men can be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

What can you do with the craving or desire for freedom that the 40-year cycle is creating? Below are some suggestions.

1.       Go back to 1971 or another time where God spoke some words of freedom, power, and light into your life and reconnect with them.

2.       Realize that time is non-linear and proportionate in speed to your attitude and closeness to God. You have the options to ‘ride’ with God as the light.

3.       Realize that the Christian saying and prayer ‘I don’t want to get ahead of God,’ is incredibly ridiculous; as no one can travel fast enough to get ahead of God. Don’t be so arrogant to think you can move faster than God. However, when you move slow enough you can get out of step with God, but you will never have to worry that you are faster than light.  

4.       Like the Bands and performers who are coming back to life; realize that God wants you to come back to life and perform the acts of worship that you once believed in.

5.       Realize that God is no respecter of people, and you have complete freedom in the Kingdom of God. Stop letting fears, worries, and people dominate your thoughts. It will literally slow down your life.

6.       Realize that God is light and he traveled your lifetime in completeness; therefore He can reconnect you to the pureness, simplicity, and freedom you once had. He traveled it, and you can claim it at any point that it was lost during the past 40-year cycle.

7.       Realize that you can be like Joshua, Caleb, and Rahab and be one of the only three ready to enter the promise land.

8.       Realize that during the 40-year cycle of time for the Israelites, that Rahab was a prostitute who had enough faith and belief in the freedom of God; that she was set free from sin and bondage. She was allowed to enter the promise land in place of the religious bigots who probably accused her.  She moved into their space in time, while they lost their space in time.

9.       Realize that no sin is too great to be set free from, and no time too long for God’s (light) to shine through. The Christian murderer Saul/Paul was zapped by the light I am referring too, and he moved into a different space in time and became an incredible warrior for God.

10.   Go back to your childhood days and re-sing the songs of freedom like ‘This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine; won’t let satan blow it out.’  

11.   Start to watch the signs of creation and open your spiritual ears of understanding to hear what God is speaking.

God created His own spiritual Five Man Electrical Band described in Ephesians 4:11 (Apostle, Prophet, Pastor, Evangelist, and Teacher).  God’s desire in 2011 during our space in time is to bring back to live the electricity of the Spiritual Five Man Electrical Band.  Our day needs the electricity, light and power that God gave; it’s time to reconnect and bring the band back to spiritual life.
